Hello!

 

My name is Rachel Huston and I am currently a Pre-Business student at the University of Arizona and will be applying for professional admission into the Eller College of Management to study Business Management and Sports Management.

 

 

I have enjoyed (which is an understatement) watching hockey for years, and have recently become interested in the mechanics of the sport, which has drawn me to want to work in operations. I am a firm believer in using advanced stats to improve a team on the ice. I don't believe PDO or Fenwick are answers in themselves, but believe that those numbers can help point to frequent dumps with minimal retrievals, lack of puck moving by the defense, a lack of quality shots, etc.

 

 

Through my journalism work and experience, I have a variety of skills that help me stand out and fit well into a role in sports media, another field I am interested in. Being able to market players who have worked their whole lives to accomplish their dreams and connect those players to the fans is something I would be ecstatic to do.
